I booked the parking about two weeks before the Cruise and had understood that it was the best category, closest to the docks and 'under cover' security. On arrival we found that the building used for parking was not usable because of objects falling from the roof. I was therefore concerned at the time because of the vast numbers of fishermen lining the pier adjacent to the parking lot and the possibility of damage from lead sinkers etc on the fishing lines. I did find all of the staff very helpful however and was relieved to find my car in good order after our trip.
helpful staff so near to the ship you could almost touch it on return off the ship and into my car and out of the port in minutes
Whole thing was really easy apart from the first gate. The two people in there did not have our booking, they said because it was online!!!?????? However after a couple of phone calls it was sorted and the rest was good The only thing that concerned us was the proximity of the fishermen on the sea wall swinging lead weights about close to cars and the sight did not look as secure as advertised although our car was there for 2 weeks and was fine.
Having booked a cruise from Dover while still at home in Australia and with an offer of our daughter's car in outer SW London we had to find somewhere to leave it in Dover. A search on the Internet brought up "Simplyparking". From there booking a place was indeed very simple.
Very friendly staff on arrival, in the office, giving directions to unload luggage, and directions to park. A ferry must have unloaded and there was a constant stream of lorries from our right and it must have taken about 20 minutes to drive from the car park to reach the A20.
We arrived very early on the day having driven down from Glasgow and we were greeted with smiles, directions and help from everyone we came across. My husband had recently suffered a heart attack and was a bit anxious about the whole procedure, but everything was as smooth and as stress free as driving to a friends house and parking in their drive. Our luggage was lifted from the car and onto a trolley by a smashing porter who wheeled it to the right place, and the next time we saw it was in our cabin. Really excellent service and of course this was repeated on our return 2 weeks later.
Applallingly inefficient checking in. I stood in a line for 70 minutes with many others. Only two people to deal with the many people trying to book in. The design of the booking in cabin was ridiculous. There is a big post right in front of the window. Fortunately all the people waiting for service seemed to be British because this would be an embarrasment for foreign visitors to endure. I felt sorry for the two people working in the kiosk. They were under siege. I have parked in numerous airport car parks and have never experienced anything as incompetant as the Dover Cruise Harbour parking facility.
Very convenient parking when going on a cruise leaving from Dover.
Couldn't be more convenient but obviously need to be early if you want the undercover parking.
Arrived late due to traffic problems on route. Directed to a parking space some 50 yards from ship at terminal 2. Assistance given with baggage. Everything worked smoothly. Strongly recommended.
Extremely busy. Confused directions. Not enough staff to guide you. Lack of car park spaces. We had to wait in a queue for over half an hour before a supervisor came and put us in a staff space. Not good enough for the money.
Easy to drop off luggage for porters to take on board then park. At end of cruise we had collected car, loaded luggage and were on the road within 15 minutes.
Could not have been easier. All staff very helpful and friendly. Parked about 250 yards from ship and will happily use again.
Perfect facilities, drive up to unload baggage, then park car and get a bus to terminal (although the car parks are so near you could easily walk).
I had pre-booked, but arrived to find their staff selling tickets on the day, and that the car park was full and I had to park on the Hoverpark. The local traffic was such that the transfer coaches were greatly delayed and walking about a mile and a half was the only solution. NOT a good experience.
They had no idea that the cruise was starting in Barcelona and returning to Dover. There were a lot of questions asked before eventually accepting the booking. Then just pointed to carpark and told to go on way leaving me to find my own way out of terminal on foot with no other alternative offered.
Parking at Dover cruise terminal is hassle-free; something you need when you are starting out on holiday, and when you return the porters are especially helpfull and polite; a great experience - helps make the holiday.
Cheerful, amiable staff meet you on arrival. No glum, grumpy faces here! Most of all a quick and efficient service, which is what we all want at these places, don't we?
The cruise terminal was easy to find and minimum effort was required to get parked and to get our luggage to the terminal building. On our return, the service was just as good reloading our luggage and assisting us to depart from the terminal.
1st time to Dover, very easy to find cruise terminal, good parking facility but not cheap, we may use specialist taxi firm next time.
